Mateusz Jablonski Wins First Trophy at the 2024 Coolbet Open
The Coolbet Open is back where it all began to the majestic Estonian capital of Tallinn for seven days of non-stop poker action from August 26 to September 1 at the luxurious new venue located just meters away from Tallinn’s historic Old Town, the Chesterfield Poker Club and the Nordic Hotel Forum.
The first two days generated amazing vibes, with CoolBear welcoming players from far and near, some of whom qualified for the Coolbet Open online at Coolbet Poker.
Norway’s Mateusz Jablonski was the star at the beginning of the festival after winning the first trophy event in The Coolbet Open €220 Warm-Up for €6,980 after agreeing to a three-way deal with Estonia’s Allan Arjut and Iceland’s Daniel Axelsson, who were each awarded €5,235 for their efforts. This was a special moment for Jablonski as he earned his first live poker win in an international event recorded by The Hendon Mob.
It was an interesting final table to say the least with a bit of international flavor. It is rare to see one player from Iceland at a final table in an international event, but in this case, there were a total of three players, with Daniel Thorsteinsson (seventh - €1,525) and Jon Thorvaldsson (ninth - €877) joining Axelsson at the final table. South Africa was also represented at the final table, with Russel Wheatley taking eighth place for €1,175.
Norway’s Stein Pederson (fourth - €3,100), Estonia’s Sergei Oganesjan (fifth - €2,500), and Norway’s Mikael Andersen (sixth - €2,000 rounded out the final table during the opening trophy event at the Coolbet Open.
The Coolbet Open Warn-Up attracted 183 entries to create a €35,502 prize pool with the top 23 players earning at least a €400 min-cash. Check out the full results from The Coolbet Open Warm-Up below:

The Coolbet Open Main Event Begins Today
Meanwhile, the festival’s highlight kicks off on Wednesday at noon with the heavily anticipated 2024 The Coolbet Open €550 Main Event, the first of its two opening flights. Players will battle for nine levels of 45 minutes each during both opening flights off a starting stack of 30,000 to provide plenty of play.
Players can re-enter until their hearts are content throughout both opening flights. This will continue until after the conclusion of the first blind level of Friday’s Day 2 when blinds increase to one hour each until a winner is crowned on Saturday.
Meanwhile, while many players won packages at Coolbet Poker for many events, others also found a way to get into the biggest action of the festival for pennies on the dollar via another route. Chesterfield hosted two Main Event €60 satellites with 10 seats guaranteed. Both events crushed the guarantee, including Tuesday’s satellite attracting 81 entries, leading to 17 players earning Main Event seats.
You can follow along the Main Event action at our dedicated blow at PokerNews led by reporting powerhouse Christian Zetzsche.
The Main Event isn’t the only attraction of the day. In addition to the non-stop cash games, The Coolbet Open will also feature some four-card action on the felts, with the €220 Pot-Limit Omaha kicking off at 5 p.m.
The much-anticipated Nations Cup Final kicks off at 4 p.m. This event will also mark the start of the live stream through the event, where players from around the world will be rooting for their country’s winner to earn the prestigious title. You can check out the action commentated by Kristjan Laas on The Coolbet Open website along with The Coolbet Open Facebook and YouTube channels.
Players looking for value will join in on the action for the €25 satellite, with €20 rebuys and add-ons to the two-day €330 Coolbet Open Deepstack Championship, with five seats guaranteed at 5 p.m.
The Coolbet Open Deepstack Championship kicks off its opening day a few hours later at 9 p.m. followed by the €150 AcerZiggy’s Zapperjam Hyper Turbo for late-night owls at 11 p.m.
