September 2023
Coolbet Open was for the first time not held in Estonia but instead in Slovakia’s beautiful capital, Bratislava. One of the best poker rooms in Europe, Banco Casino Bratislava, was full of Coolbet players during 4-10 September and the local crowd also came out in force as well as many players from Austria, Hungary and Israel.
Yet, the Main Event was again won by a player from Finland as was the case with the 2018 May and May 2019 events. Ville Tapani Hakala had won a package from Coolbet for the event and he ended up taking home the biggest trophy and a pay cheque of €60.000 with him home to Finland.
Heads-up he defeated Austrian Maged Aziz who had to settle for €38.690 and second place. Aziz had earlier taken out Coolbet streamer Ylva Thorsrud of Norway in 3rd place, her best ever performance at a Coolbet Open.
The Main Event had a total of 620 entries which almost covered the guaranteed prize pool of €300.000.
Side Events
Ville Hakala was not only running hot in the Main Event at Coolbet Open. He also managed to win a side event, the Coolbet Open 8 Game, which really showed how versatile a player he is. The tournament ended at 7 am but Ville had no problem with playing the Main Event just without much sleep the following day.
The late evening Hyper Turbo events were named after the members of Coolbet’s streaming team who also participated themselves. One of the streamers, Christian “Sycksbe” Arstad even managed to win his own event and €2800.
The biggest side event win at Coolbet Open 2023 went to Czechia’s Jiri Noga, who won the €1100 Coolbet NLH Masterclass for €12950.
